A panoramic view: dawn. Fort Baker to the left. Silhouetted by the sun from left to right is Tiburon, Angel Island, Alcatraz, Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge. The city is nestled behind the Golden Gate bridge, lit up by the rising sun. A few SF landmarks are visible--as well as two whales I saw under the bridge that morning!

Pathway to the ocean: at the south end of Linda Mar, or Pacifica State Beach in Pacifica, California. While surfers catch the dawn, I stroll down pathways in the morning light, tip-toeing over smooth stones, refreshed by the fresh air and the sounds of birds calling; waves rushing.
There are many ways to walk, but may we take the opportunity for solitude and perspective-widening in gratitude-filled, meditative walks.

My great grandfather worked on this bridge! An internationally known gateway to San Francisco, between the Pacific Ocean to the west and the S.F. Bay to the east: it opened in 1937 and was, until 1964, the longest suspension bridge main span in the world.
No matter the circumstance, may we experience everlasting peace that invites us into each day.

I've found myself painting San Francisco gateways during this season. This is the Northbound 101 entrance--all of a sudden there she is: The City!
May we recognize our pathways and take our entrances and exits with confidence. Even when we get lost, may we be expectant and exercise gratitude in the process.

This was a perilous climb, but well worth it for this vantage point. The sun just peeked out of the clouds in time to light up the golden rocks and yellow flowers.
Let love be your motivation and may your rewards be worthy of your risks.

The fog was rolling in one chilly evening, first light and wispy, and then dense and full. Though it blocked the sun, it was a sight to see none-the-less, a resting lake and nature's sounds muted and still.
May we bundle up when it's cold, but let us not forget to savor the sounds of silence.

Available for Purchase: Original and Giclee (print)
Acrylic on canvas, 38"x38"x1.5"
Black, custom floating frame (included).
Ready to display: high quality, plastic coated, stranded stainless steel picture hanging wire affixed to the frame.

At sunset, crossing the Bay Bridge into San Francisco is much like entering a magical kingdom. While seemingly modern and industrial, there is serenity in the crossing, a savoring expectation in the colors and welcoming cityscape. Perhaps you're encountering "the City" for the first time. Perhaps you're on your way home from work. Perhaps you're ready for your next adventure or attending an event. No matter why, this crossing is an epic part of the journey.
May we cross our bridges, following the beauty on the other side, and savoring it when we get there.

This beach is incredible! When they say "Keep Tahoe Blue" they really mean it! I hiked out to those rocks in the distance on the left--I gasping to see the turquoise blue transparency below. The snow was melting and the air was fresh--the sunlight warming the clouds.
May we listen to our surroundings, and may we respond in love.

South of the Pacifica Pier is a promenade that hugs the beach and curves around to a set of steps that lead to Mori Point.
May we take pause in the constant climb to turn around and stand in awe.

Pedro Point is the name of this actual spot on Linda Mar Beach. I imagine the fisherman out there on the rocks is named Pedro. Like a captain at the bow of the ship, observing the expanse, there is Pedro, standing with authority and calm.
May we stand in wisdom and confidence, sure of our place and authority.

There is something about the juxtaposition of nature with architecture, shape and color. It is all very much alive. In painting this piece I was reminded of Cinque Terre, only this is home in Pacifica, California.
May we see and understand what we love about the far away and embrace it in the here and now.

We had offshore winds, hiking the Grey Whale Cove Trail up the cliffs on the coast. Mist blew behind the waves breaking in the opposite direction. The sun shone through the mist.
A second later, it was gone.
May we be at the right place at the right time for the right reasons and the right purpose.

Cinque Terre or Five Lands are five small towns on Italy's west coast connected by hiking paths and train tracks. What a great hike through color-splashed homes, nature green country, and jaw-dropping views. Color meets country meets coast.
May things we enjoy come together to dance.

The first day of the year, fiery with possibility and passion. This California setting sun is a golden reminder that there is treasure here and now in trust, in hope, and in perseverance.
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Edging high up in the Italian Alps, I lived and worked on an organic farm through the WWOOF organization (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). The mom picked these wildflowers one morning as we ate country bread, laced with butter from a nearby dairy and their delicious home-made honey.

It's about a mile from the Pacifica Pier in Sharp Park to Mori Point in Pacifica, California. For a further secluded hike, keep going about 1/3 of a mile to this vantage point and you're likely to see dolphins "surfing", maybe even some whales!
May we find ourselves repeatedly awed and refreshed by the grandeur of nature, and thankful for our place in it.
