Discovering the Italian countryside near Modena ten years ago, we wove through hills and past villages and hamlets that I have been wanting to paint ever since. I remember very near to this place was the first time I tasted a tomato that made me tear up. It was as if I had never tasted a real tomato. Yes, it was that amazing.

Ireland really is the greenest of green lands--it feels so vibrantly alive, even when blanketed in clouds. Seeing my first rainbow there I was struck with its brightness and seemingly chorus-filled promise. I enjoyed every cheerful greeting and wise word offered in passing; I have never heard a heartier laugh.
I felt so much at home that I wanted to stay there forever. This sky, background, hills, sheep, stream, and foreground encompass different locations from the east to the west—and it speaks to me of promise, promise, and more promise.
May hope be ours in peaceful trust, now and evermore.
